The Routing Table is a critical component of your network’s configuration, ensuring devices can communicate efficiently across local and remote networks. The Meter Dashboard provides visibility into your routing table, detailing the network paths your devices use to reach their destinations.
The routing table is a database of routes maintained by the Meter Security Appliance (SA). It defines the pathways for network traffic to reach its destination, whether it’s within the local network (LAN) or outside via the internet (WAN).The Meter routing table is automatically generated and dynamically updated to reflect the network’s configuration, including static routes, connected subnets, and ISP routes.
The routing table contains several key pieces of information:Destination Network
The IP address or subnet that the route applies to (e.g., 192.168.1.0/24).
This defines where the traffic is headed.
Gateway
The next hop for the traffic, such as the IP address of the upstream router or gateway.
For local routes, this is typically the Meter Security Appliance.
Entity
Displays additional context about the route, such as any associated tunnels or security configurations. It signifies a secure tunnel connection to another network or location.
