Overview

The STP error alert triggers when a Spanning Tree Protocol issue is detected, such as a topology change or BPDU guard violation. STP errors can indicate network loops or misconfigurations.

What to do when you receive this alert

  1. Log into the Dashboard and navigate to Hardware > Switches
  2. Review the switch and port identified in the alert
  3. Check for network loops caused by devices like unmanaged switches or hubs
  4. Verify cabling to ensure no accidental loop connections
  5. Contact Meter Support if you need assistance resolving the issue
