Setting up Client VPN

Overview

Meter's Client VPN enables remote users to securely connect to your network from anywhere, whether at home or on the road. There is no additional cost to use the VPN.

Who can modify this feature?

  • Partner
  • Company/Network Admins with write access
  • Meter Support

Use cases

  • Remote work: Enable employees to access office resources from home
  • Travel: Allow users to connect securely while traveling
  • IT administration: Manage network resources remotely
  • Contractor access: Provide temporary secure access to external partners

How to set up the VPN server

  1. Log in to the Dashboard at dashboard.meter.com
  2. Navigate to Secure Tunnels > Client VPN
  3. Click Add VPN server

Configuration options

Connected VLANsLocal VLANs that should be accessible over the Client VPN.
Client allowed subnetsAdditional subnet ranges that should be accessible (e.g., remote subnets at the other end of an IPSec tunnel).
WANWAN interface for Client VPN communication.
WAN failoverIf ON, the Client VPN fails over to the backup WAN if the primary fails. If OFF, the VPN goes down with the selected WAN.OFF

Once the VPN server is configured, you can begin adding users.
